I wanted to see if you could follow a sewing pattern to crochet a top, and it was a really fun experiment. Part two of this video is coming out as soon, where I'm going to talk more about the measurements, stitches, and blocking techniques I used to make this sweater.
Honestly, this is the first sweater I've ever "successfully" crocheted for myself (and I would DEFINITELY make some changes if I ever decide to make another one) but as someone who really hates reading traditional crochet patterns, I think I'll be using this technique again in the future. I have way more experience sewing clothing, so I really felt more confident following a sewing pattern, but adjusting for seam allowances and darts still threw me a little.
Regardless, I think sewing patterns can be a great guide if you're new to crocheting clothing. I always try to wait until patterns are a dollar or two at the fabric store, though! ;)
